Lee and London's nonPRofit University
We are thrilled to announce the launch of Lee and London’s nonPRofit University (NPU), a new mentoring program that will offer small or newly launched charitable organizations the opportunity to reap the benefits of PR while giving our future PR superstars in-depth experience. We’ll accept 1-2 organizations for this program each quarter.
Now Accepting Applications for Fall 2020
We LOVE nonprofits here at Lee and London. Our team has worked hand-in-hand with some of the largest nonprofits in the SoCal region, helping to build awareness for each cause through strategic PR campaigns. Whether it’s a grand opening event, working the red carpet at a gala to leverage celebrity influence for a cause, generating buzz for a fundraiser, cultivating a public affairs campaign through a grassroots effort — we’re always looking for new ways to increase awareness for the causes we represent. These are just a few of the many nonprofits we’ve worked with over the years:
The People Concern, San Diego LGBT Pride, WildAid, Susan G. Komen Los Angeles, Boys & Girls Clubs, Feeding America, World Skateboarding Federation, Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, San Diego Center for Jewish Culture, San Diego Professionals Against Cancer, American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, San Diego Film Foundation, Japanese Society of San Diego & Tijuana, National Foundation for Autism Research, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, First 5 California, NSEFU Wildlife, San Diego Humane Society, Chloe Nichols Foundation, San Diego Professionals Against Cancer, The Kids Cancer Research Foundation, United Way of San Diego County, Civic San Diego
Why are you starting this program?
We receive weekly calls from nonprofits doing incredible work, but so often they lack the budget to afford the required monthly retainer that typically starts at $3,000 per month. This program is a perfect opportunity to give these smaller nonprofits doing big things the same chance to reach a larger audience with their cause. It also provides us the opportunity to give our passionate publicists the chance to gain invaluable and necessary experience to help them grow in the industry.
How are the program participants selected?
Nonprofits will have the opportunity to apply to our program here. We request detailed information regarding finances, number of employees, etc. We typically want the three-month campaign to center on an event or the announcement of news.
What does it cost?
Based on the type of campaign needed, we will offer two options for monthly retainers, $500 monthly and $1,000 monthly (depending on organization size) with a commitment of three months. Each account will be led by one of our account coordinators [1-2 years of lifestyle public relations experience] with direct support from 1-2 assistant coordinators. Please note, ALL accounts will still be overseen by an account executive. No press releases/pitches/or any other materials released to the public will go out without being reviewed by a senior team member.
How does it work?
You’ll be assigned an account leader (a junior associate) who will be responsible for the day-to-day communications and putting together the PR plan. The PR plan will identify the PR tactics that will be used over the 3-month campaign period. Examples of activities include:
- Press releases
- Story mining
- Earned media outreach – securing coverage for your organization in the media.
- Social media support, including assistance with posting
- Blog writing
- Website edits
- Creative ideas
